Vehicle Overview

Recently imported from the UK, here we find A beautiful light teal coloured 1996 Land Rover Defender 110 Wagon specially modified by Land Rover Special Vehicles. Back in 1996 this vehicle was custom ordered by British Telecom as a 1 of 1 from Land Rover and was customized to include the Brown Church Roof Rack, Salisbury Rear Axle, Snorkel and Front Winch Bumper.  Like all our vehicles, this comes safetied and e-tested and is fully approved for road use in Canada. This was vehicle was sourced from Cheltenham, England from its second owner after BT. This is a very reliable car and is the real deal having been modified by Special Vehicles right after it rolled off the production line in Solihull, England. It comes with a great deal of service history and as it was originally modified by Special Vehicles you can trace the unique identifier tag which is bolted in underneath the hood to get more history if you want. It just had a coolant refresh and oil change to make sure it's in top condition for the next owner. The capability of these machines is not to be under-estimated, the combination of its Low Ratio box and coil-sprung suspension with full time 4WD make them able to take on any terrain and conditions and it's why they’ve become a popular choice for adventurers from Iceland to South Africa. For the Land Rover purist, the 300TDI remains the all round best engine Land Rover ever made. The torquey, economical (30mpg) diesel engine, free of modern ECU problems and most of all, dead reliable. It means they’re easy to work with, easy to get parts for and easy to fix. It is in extraordinary mechanical condition, especially considering the age. Over the years it has had a lot of preventative maintenance and upkeep including an engine rebuild at around 150,000 miles, which means it has less than 50,000 km on it since the rebuild. Brake lines and front bushings have also been replaced in the past year. Mileage is approximately 177,000 miles which is roughly 285,000 KM, but you wouldn't know it. Exterior:  Paint is in good condition with some small marks from stone chips There is no rust on the frame of the vehicle or on any body parts - this is a seriously solid Defender. The chassis, bulkhead, outriggers and doors are all in superb, corrosion free condition. These are usually the main culprits and are expensive to fix. The previous owner had the chassis and underside wax-oiled to ensure rust prevention and over the years it has been used sparingly when roads have been salted. Most Defenders of this vintage have been repaired on the frame but this in A1 condition. The defender is fitted with an adjustable tow package and has wiring for lighting, everything has been well lubricated and works perfectly, but was seldom used. Tires are in good condition all round, and it comes with a spare. The fronts are at about 40% and the rears at 60%, wheels are in great condition. It is fully wired for a front winch (with isolating switch) and exterior lighting units attachable to the Brown Church roof rack. Interior:  This example was originally equipped to seat 12 people but is currently configured to seat 11 with a centre armrest / storage cubby in the front taking up the room for the middle occupant. The interior is in great condition with new seating in the back. It is equipped with a FM/AM/CD player stereo up front in a single din socket which is easily upgradeable if desired. Aftermarket front speakers are installed in the roof. Two toggle switches have also been added inside for optional exterior lighting units which had previously been fitted. All wiring was done by professional mechanics. Now is the perfect time to buy this appreciating classic after Land Rover ended production earlier this year. They also retain their value very well This is a great vehicle for more adventurous terrain exploration, perfect for Canadian winters, this thing munches through the snow!
